 Google says goodbye to infinite scrolling for its search engine

Google is saying goodbye to endless scrolling. Launched in 2021, this system offered a continuous stream of results… until now. From now on, users will have to click on the “classic” numbers to explore other results on the desktop version, or opt for the “More results” button on mobile devices.

Why is Google going backwards?

Officially, the company wants to speed up the display of results. The aim: to concentrate on specific queries and avoid loading unnecessary pages. According to a spokesperson, infinity is far from ideal…

But this choice could also be economical, since the demand on hardware resources is inevitably greater when you have to load several pages in one request, than a single page of 10 results.

This change is unlikely to do any good for less well-positioned websites, which without scrolling will have less visibility and should see a drop in their natural traffic.
